Five engines: Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini.
Each prompt you track is sent to every engine on your plan, and each answer is checked for two things: whether your brand is mentioned, and whether your domain is cited as a source. Those are separate results. An engine can describe your product accurately and still link to a competitor's comparison page, which is the case worth catching early.
Why these five
AI Overviews and AI Mode are where Google puts generated answers above the classic results, so they change what a first-position ranking is actually worth. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini are the assistants people open instead of a search box.
Claude is not tracked. When it is, it will appear in the engine list without you needing to change anything.
What gets measured
Two things, separately. A mention is the engine naming your brand in its answer. A citation is the engine linking your domain as a source. You can have either without the other, and the gap between them is usually the most useful number on the page.
Results reflect what an engine returned to a neutral question from a neutral location, not what it returns to you while you are logged in and it already knows your site.
Prompt limits
Growth includes 25 prompts on four engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. During the 7-day trial it tracks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews; Perplexity and Gemini join once the plan is paid. Scale includes 50 and Agency 100, both on all five engines. The limit counts across all your Brand Spaces, and one Brand Space holds at most 50. Each prompt runs against every engine on your plan.
Picking prompts that tell you something
Track the questions a buyer asks before they know your name. "Best rank tracker for agencies" says more about your visibility than "Ranksmile", which will mention you regardless and teaches you nothing.
Start with your top ten buying-intent questions, let them run through a few refreshes, then add more once you can see which topics you're absent from.
