# Glossary

The terms used across Ranksmile, and the distinctions that matter.

AI Search Health
: Whether the crawlers behind the answer engines can reach your pages. Reported per crawler as Healthy, Have issues, or Blocked. See [AI Search Health](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/site/ai-search-health)

AI visibility
: Whether assistants name your brand and cite your domain when answering questions in your market. Distinct from rank tracking, which measures the classic results. See [AI visibility](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/ai-visibility/overview)

Answer engine
: A surface that generates an answer rather than returning a list of links. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini

Auto-Optimize

Brand Space
: One domain and everything Ranksmile knows about it. Nothing crosses between spaces. See [Brand Spaces](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/introduction/brand-spaces)

Citation
: An engine linking your domain as a source for its answer. Different from a mention

Content score
: How a page compares to the pages currently winning its target query, with the breakdown of what is missing. See [content score](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/content/content-score)

Coverage gap
: A topic your content does not answer at all, as opposed to answers it badly

Fanout query
: A sub-question an engine generates from your prompt before answering it. Where the citation decision actually happens. See [fanout queries](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/ai-visibility/fanout-queries)

Mention
: An engine naming your brand in its answer, whether or not it links you. Different from a citation

Prompt
: A question you track in AI visibility, put to every engine you have enabled. See [choosing prompts](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/ai-visibility/prompts)

Refresh schedule
: How often tracked prompts are scanned again. Your plan sets it: weekly on Growth, daily on Scale and Agency. New and edited prompts are scanned right away

Site Health
: The technical state of the pages a crawl covered, as a share of checks that passed. See [site audit](https://ranksmile.pl/docs/site/site-audit)

Site Speed
: How fast the site is, measured during the crawl rather than separately, so it is comparable to the issues listed beside it

Source
